10.23.18 I followed this recipe to the letter, and there's one matter that I will alter. There'south a lot of fat that cooks out of the ground beefiness that IMO needs to be drained. The recipe doesn't tell yous to do that, just I unremarkably practice, but didn't today. If y'all brown the fresh tomatoes with the meat, if you drain it, you're losing all of that sweetness juice from the tomatoes. And although the final product was very proficient, information technology was greasy. So in the future, I will dark-brown the meat, drain the fat, then add tomatoes along with the remaining ingredients to simmer. On the positive side, this had very dissimilar flavors which we thoroughly enjoyed, and I definitely will make information technology once again.

The full general methodology is an authentic one, although about would probable use garlic and ginger instead of the back-scratch powder. The process of cooking onion first and then the rest of spices with the meat, until it has a cooked aroma and the oil separates from the meat mixture, is of import and has a name ( bhoonna). This can take 10-xv minutes during which the pot has to be stirred intermittently. Oil should exist removed after this procedure to permit for proper fragrance and flavor of the dish. Because the oil separates, the spices are not lost.

This recipe was amazing and a quick meal for the family. I used i can of diced tomatoes since I didn't accept fresh ones and I used frozen peas instead of canned peas because I don't like the texture of canned peas. I will definitely make this again.

Pretty tasty for an easy weeknight meal. I substituted shredded carrots for the peas, cooked them with the onion at the start. Added 1 loving cup of h2o at the end to make it more than saucy. I would say the amount of seasonings are spot on. We ate it with Basmati and cauliflower Rice to cutting dorsum on the carbs.

This was quite good. I used canned diced tomatoes and frozen peas. I didn't think it had plenty sauce so added some water. It was still fairly dry. The moisture was quickly absorbed by the rice. I think it would benefit from the addition of yogurt or sour cream. All in all, it had a overnice back-scratch flavor and a off-white corporeality of spice. Will likely make it once again.

The recipe was an piece of cake brand and although I am non apply to using curry, I must say the flavor is vibrant and potent. The prepared dish was a very good quick and easy meal. I volition be making it more often in the future.
12/11/2019
I used Gardein crumbles instead of beefiness and information technology worked well! I added a little water to brand sure information technology didn't dry out out too much. The spice mixture actually makes the dish special. The peas advert a touch on of sweetness to the terminal dish.
07/27/2019
This was the perfect dish to make on a week night! The only commutation I made was replacing the canned peas with canned french cutting green beans and 1/2 loving cup of shredded carrots. I didn't drain the ground beef, every bit I didn't find information technology greasy at all after reading comments made past other reviewers. Nosotros ate this with orgainic white rice, and sauteed zucchini to cut back on carbs. Definitely will make this again.

This recipe turned out great! Four out of 5 loved it in my family unit, so that's a win. Nosotros prefer footing turkey to beef and then I used that instead, and I did leave out the cayenne, and thought it was spicy plenty. I will make this again soon considering how easy and cheap it was.
09/03/2019
Easy, quick, inexpensive and very, very tasty! Even my super picky husband loves it!!!
09/28/2019
Honestly actually happy with this dish, just information technology is missing something. I'chiliad going to play around with it, try a tbsp of garam masala (spice recipe available on this site as well) and simmer the beefiness in some beef broth to kick upwards the flavour, because it tastes just a tad banal. But for a beefiness curry (I'g a chicken curry person), I was quite happy with it! Would happily eat the recipe as is any solar day!
10/12/2019
I promise that the gustation isn't dramatically unlike without cayenne pepper, thats the only thing I left out. otherwise this recipe is delish. iv year quondam and i year old ate it all up!
08/25/2019
This was a big hit with my family unit. I added 3 small shredded carrots and i/two red bell pepper in with the onion to add a little more than nutrition. I likewise used 97% lean ground beef based on the comments from other reviewers about also much fat. I also used frozen peas and served it on cauliflower rice to cut back on carbs. Succulent and I will definitely be making this again.

Next time I'll utilise a can of diced tomatoes and avert the skins. I drained the grease (of course, duh) and seasoned to taste - so, more curry and salt. I used frozen peas, but measured them in a Purex measuring loving cup and filled it with water and then the back-scratch wouldn't be likewise dry. I LOVE curry and this dish was different than anything I've tried before and I'll brand it again. I might endeavour information technology over egg noddles side by side time because at that place'southward a pandemic and I can't discover more rice.
09/03/2019
Very good, only quite spicy. If you're non a person who likes lots of spice, I would omit the cayenne. I did use a whole 15 oz can of peas, drained.
11/11/2018
use lean beef then there isn't much fat. dish is dandy, for future I'chiliad going to apply ground lamb, it goes great with back-scratch
eleven/01/2018
Everyone like information technology but you are going to have to drain the hamburger. I did not because I realized information technology likewise late and would have lost the flavor of the tomatoes. Otherwise very tasty over Basmati rice.
07/07/2020
I've fabricated this a few times, only this time I added garlic pulverisation and onion powder. Yummy!!
03/28/2021
Added extra curry powder, paprika and salt and 1 can of crushed blood-red tomatoes when I added the frozen peas 10 minutes from the end of the simmer cooking time. Was a bit spicy
03/25/2021
Information technology's non authentic for me, merely I will make this once more and employ a flake of chopped cilantro as a 'pass effectually' or comprise it in the end. I volition charge per unit it again then.
11/xvi/2020
Delicious! Volition make it many more times
10/10/2020
Pretty good actually. I added raisins, a sprinkle each of ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, more h2o to soften and get in a little more saucy, a couple pats of butter, and used frozen peas w/o liquid and it came out so tasty and yummy! I read reviews afterwards- ppl wanted to swallow right away, otherwise I might have added canned diced tomatoes and perchance even some carrots. I'g so glad I added the raisins and spices, made it so much meliorate. My family loves it!! Thanks! Will def make once again.

Very good recipe. If you like alot of flavor add more seasoning and adjust information technology to your taste.

Will not make once again
08/03/2019
This was fantastic and the whole family loved information technology ! It would take been a mistake to utilize smoked paprika (the only paprika I had) and so i increased the chili powder. Used canned, crushed tomatoes instead of fresh and omitted the oil so I didn't take to drain the meat. So yummy! Eating leftovers now.
08/23/2019
My family actually liked this recipe. I used footing turkey, which nosotros adopt to ground beef. I used the liquid from the chick peas because the recipe said to simmer the mixture, but after draining off the fatty from the meat, the mixture was dry. I also added a little craven broth.i served this with basmati rice. The merely other change I would make is to double the recipe since nosotros enjoyed information technology so much!
eleven/xiv/2018
Great and quick dish. I would follow the previous posters in cooking the beef kickoff and draining it. Otherwise, awesome and spicy!
eleven/05/2018
Love this dish. Easy hamburger back-scratch. In my opinion it needs a dash of cinnamon, tumeric and ginger to amp upwardly the flavour instead of chili or cayenne. As well, I apply frozen peas. Sometimes I employ canned tomatoes. Sometimes I add a diced potato and simmer til soft.
06/xix/2019
Delicious , but spicy!
03/09/2022
I idea this recipe was very tasty. I used a semi-drained can of diced tomatoes instead of fresh and followed the advice of one reviewer and substituted some grated carrot for the canned peas during the sauteing step and it turned out great. I'll definitely make it over again!

11/14/2018
Delicious made with ground lamb, served with tandoori bread!
01/27/2020
My family loves this recipe. Make certain to use the correct curry powder though. The yellowish turmeric curry in the spice section. Non the curry from the Asian island/store.
04/xi/2020
YUMMY!!!
07/29/2019
This came out great!! The only change I fabricated was using four TBS olive oil instead of 6. I also used a can of diced tomatoes undrained - I did drain the can of peas. I would absolutely make this again.
08/02/2019
Made information technology exactly every bit it says. And it's astonishing. I did add together a fleck of finishing salt to aid heighten the flavour.

11/05/2021
Too salty!
12/20/2021
Actually tasty! Reminded me of a more eye eastern version of arancini filling (Sicilian rice balls). I did add a Tbs of tomato paste, a half can of lycopersicon esculentum sauce, and a Tbs of minced garlic after the beef is browned. I didn't strain off the fat, but I used low fatty footing beef. Served with basmati rice. Yum!
09/19/2021
Added carrots, potatoes and bong peppers.
02/22/2021
I really enjoyed this. I didn't accept ground beef so I used ground pork instead. I likewise followed another user'south tip and put shredded carrots in with the onions instead of peas, and I also added about 3/4 c of water. Very fragrant and tasty.
03/20/2021
We loved this! I used crushed tomatoes from a tin can that was already opened in identify of the fresh diced tomatoes and added a tablespoon of ginger garlic paste. Delicious with rice!
04/03/2020
I used canned tomatoes and I might have miscounted on the oil (it came out oilier than I expected). Just its a suuuuper piece of cake & uncomplicated recipe that got munched right up. Then, yep, I will exist making it again.
08/10/2019
The cook times are glaringly inaccurate and the finished production only tastes like fat and peas. Yuck! Needs way more spice.
08/22/2020
Absolutely awesome. The family loved information technology. I followed the recipe to a t . Even the kids loved it. Well definitely cook it once more.
07/31/2019
I added the onions along with garlic when I cooked the meat in a skillet. When cooked transferred it to a sauce pan, leaving the fatty behind, added two cans of diced tomatoes forth with the spices. 10 minutes before serving added two cups of frozen peas. Easy and good tasting meal.
04/27/2019
Delicious and simple meal, very hearty dish with some garlic naan! I did drain the footing beef and the sauce from the peas. Will exist making again. Cheers!
11/04/2018
I took other reviews advice and cooked the onions and meat offset. Then drained off the admission grease from the meat. Added all the other ingredients as the recipe mentioned. I found that the tomato'south when broken down where extremely juicy. So when it came time to add the can peas. (I did drain most of the juice from the tin can before adding. With that beingness said, I served information technology on a mound of white rice, this dish was wonderful and flavourful. My wife and kids loved it.
04/26/2022
Made with footing moose meat and served with mango chutney. Superb!
03/11/2021
Just made this tonight - a definite "keep on the rotation" recipe. I didn't have fresh tomatoes so used a can of diced tomatoes with chiles. I also added sauteed carrot to add a bit of sweetness. I volition definitely brand this again!
07/13/2021
Very tasty comfort food. I spooned off well-nigh of the grease from the meat and tomatoes before I added the peas. I will drain off the fatty next time before I add tomatoes and spices. I had some green onions and sweet garden peppers which I chopped and added with the peas. I besides added a slurry of corn starch and beef stock to make the sauce smooth and thicker. The spice mix was perfect. This will be a go-to for an like shooting fish in a barrel, flavorful dinner.
03/11/2021
What I liked about this was the blend of spices balanced out so well. I didn't add any h2o equally my married woman took pictures of the ingredients, but not the directions, on her prison cell phone. She besides missed the peas. I cooked the footing beef commencement and used the rendered fat to cook the vegetables. I reduced the heat and tossed in the spices. They cooked in the rendered oil for a minutes before turning up the heat and adding the beef back (beef tallow has a college smoke betoken than EVOO & VOO). When the beef had warmed up again, I reduced the heat and permit the ingredients blend together. Next fourth dimension I will add a little liquid and frozen peas. I'm non a large fan of canned peas. Finally I quadrupled the amount of spices and stored them in a jar for quick use in the time to come. As I said I really liked the balance in the mix.
08/25/2020
Fabricated this this evening. My hubby and I loved it. I don't similar a lot of spicy foods but this but right.
09/02/2019
This is a great weeknight recipe although, I did make a couple changes. I did drain the beef/onion mixture before adding the tomatoes which I changed to a can of diced since that's what I had on hand. As far as the peas, instead of adding the liquid from the can (yuck) I used the aforementioned amount of low sodium beef broth. Served with basmati rice and some lightly baked naanand it was fantastic! A keeper for sure!
05/01/2019
The only alter was to add a full tsp of chili powder considering I but made a mistake. Then I decided not to add the cayenne. We thought it was cracking. Not besides spicy and still with a good flavor. Oh, and I also used i can of diced tomatoes instead of cutting up fresh ones - bur other reviewers had done that. Will definitely go far again.
04/08/2020
I made this week one of "quarantine cooking", and it was my family'southward beginning introduction to the curry flavor. They LOVED it! It wasn't too strong simply but correct for them. Served with rice and homemade naan on the side (from this website).
05/23/2019
I loved it and will arrive again. I did not find information technology greasey I really timed the cooking as the recipe said. The only change I made was added carrots and frozen corn and peas. I don't like canned peas. The curry flavor was and so amazing.
04/09/2019
Did not make whatever changes and yes, I will make again.
03/xvi/2019
I substituted steak for the footing beef. Information technology was delicious and would definitely brand it once more.
05/17/2021
Piece of cake, delicious and role of my full general rotation. Practise utilize fresh tomatoes and non canned--it makes a big departure. I add garlic and sometimes veggies I want to utilise upwardly. I'll ofttimes serve on a large bed of raw spinach in lieu of rice.
03/05/2021
Very good. I used canned diced tomatoes and Penzeys spices including regular curry and hot curry. Spicy but squeamish. Leftovers were great, likewise.
11/26/2020
The first time I made this I followed the recipe with two exceptions. Nosotros e'er substitute venison for beef because we accept a freezer full, and I hate canned veggies so I used frozen. It was amazing and flavorful but a lilliputian dry (my fault for the substitutions) my hubby loved it and it's since become part of the regular rotation. Now I brand a few tweaks, I used canned diced tomatoes, cut some cayenne powder for the kids and add some water or beefiness broth for the moisture missing from the beef and canned peas. This is a great quick and easy weeknight dinner great for chilly days. Beloved it!
12/28/2020
I liked it. Put quite the spin on information technology though. Doubled the recipe. Browned and drained about ii.5 pounds of ground beefiness showtime. Then added oil and onions. Put two cans of burn roasted tomatoes in instead of real ones. Used about two 1/2 tablespoons of curry, smoked paprika instead, chipotle chili powder instead, and a bag of frozen peas instead.
